How do you treat and inspire the employees and visitors of a Museum that has existed for 50 years and do you create a connection with the rest of the country?
On June 2 this year it was exactly 50 years ago that the iconic building of the Van Gogh Museum on Museumplein opened its doors to the public. The anniversary year was all about 'inspiring and treating'. To make this possible, we set out on behalf of the museum to make various volunteers happy with one of the 50 special museum editions from Maastricht to Moddergat: an almost indistinguishable Van Gogh from the real thing.
We traveled throughout the Netherlands with the 'yellow' caravan to surprise the prize winners with this special recognition for their work. For example, we visited Ria from the harmony corps in Tuindorp, had coffee with Akke from the Bird Shelter in Moddergat and we visited Janny in the canteen of the football club in Heelsum. Through this sympathetic activation in the country, the anniversary is celebrated throughout the Netherlands and inspired by the work of Vincent van Gogh.On the festive day itself, an inspiring program took place on Museumplein in the presence of Princess Beatrix, where these 50 winners were also present.
In the afternoon there were painting workshops, various activities to celebrate Van Gogh's work and 35,000 sunflowers were presented to all visitors to Museumplein who wanted to celebrate the anniversary of the Van Gogh Museum. The day ended spectacularly with an impressive drone show by Studio Drift and Drone Stories, which everyone in the wide area of ββthe square could enjoy.
